Motihari: East Champaran DM Saurabh Jorwal, along with SP Swarn Prabhat, inspected the construction site of the Virat Ramayan Mandir at Kaithwaliya under Kalyanpur block on Friday. Both officials issued necessary instructions regarding security, crowd control, and traffic arrangements for the installation of the world’s largest Shiva lingam within the temple complex on January 17. Administrative preparations for this historic and religious event have already been intensified, the DM said.
The district administration, which is on high alert, reviewed the arrangements at the temple complex. The DM directed officials to ensure all necessary measures are in place. A large number of devotees, VIPs, ministers, political leaders, and saints from other states are expected to attend the Shiva lingam installation ceremony.
SP Swarn Prabhat also instructed police officers to maintain strict vigilance over crowd control, traffic management, parking, and overall security.
Sayan Kunal, secretary of Patna Hanuman Mandir, said the world’s largest Shiva lingam, weighing 210 tonnes and carved in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, will be installed on January 17 amid chanting of Vedic mantras and sprinkling of sacred water from various rivers.
He added that the governor, chief minister, ministers, and other VIPs, including saints, have been invited by the temple committee for the event.
He further stated that construction of the world’s largest temple is expected to be completed by 2030. The project was initiated by his late father, Kishor Kunal, former secretary of Patna Hanuman Mandir. The temple is being built on 125 acres near Kesariya, where the world’s largest Buddhist stupa is located.
